Provincial Minister for Auqaf and Religious Affairs, Chaudhry Shafay Hussain, visited the Quran Board Building, Upper Mall, Lahore, where he chaired a meeting of the Punjab Quran Board in the presence of Secretary/Chief Administrator of Auqaf Punjab, Dr. Ehsan Bhutta, and Chairman Punjab Quran Board, Hafiz Zubair Hassan.The meeting deliberated on an eight-point agenda. During the session, the Board approved the constitution of five specialized committees comprising eminent religious scholars (Ulema) to address various matters relating to the protection, publication, and sanctity of the Holy Quran.One committee will examine cases involving delays in the registration of printing establishments as authorized publishers with the Punjab Quran Board. A second committee will monitor printing errors and typographical mistakes in the publication of the Holy Quran and recommend appropriate corrective measures. A third committee will address incidents involving the desecration or disrespect of Quranic verses on social media and propose suitable legal and administrative action.A special committee was also constituted to oversee the respectful purification (Ghusl) and preservation of copies of the Holy Quran currently in the custody of the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA). The committee will further recommend amendments to the relevant legislation aimed at ensuring the proper preservation and respectful disposal of worn or damaged copies and sacred pages of the Holy Quran.The Board also recommended imposing a ban on the controversial book Ajnabiyat, which has been circulating on social media, and called for appropriate disciplinary and legal action against those responsible.Furthermore, the Board approved the establishment of a dedicated Quran Board Cell to promptly address emerging issues concerning the Holy Quran and to facilitate timely policy recommendations and coordinated action.
