The 399th annual Urs celebrations of the great Sufi saint, Hazrat Syed Shah Jamal Qadri (RA), commenced with the traditional Chadar Poshi ceremony. Secretary/Chief Administrator Auqaf Punjab Dr. Ehsan Bhutta inaugurated the Urs celebrations by laying a Chadar at the sacred shrine and offered special prayers for the safety, stability, prosperity and well-being of the country and its people. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Ehsan Bhutta said that the Sufi saints promoted brotherhood, equality, justice and mutual respect in society through their character and conduct. He said that the teachings of the Sufi saints emphasized treating every human being with dignity and honor, irrespective of differences of color, race, language, region or social status. Secretary Excise Mr.Masood Mukhtar, Director General Religious Affairs Mr.Hafiz Anees-ur-Rehman, Administrator Auqaf Lahore Zone (East) Mr.Muhammad Jahangir, Auqaf Manager Mr.Kashif Nadeem, religious scholars, members of the Religious Affairs Committee, and other religious and social personalities were also present on the occasion. A large number of devotees and pilgrims participated in the inaugural ceremony. On the occasion of the annual Urs of Hazrat Shah Jamal Qadri (RA), the Auqaf Department has ensured the provision of necessary facilities for the pilgrims.
